Comparison

Navan and Concur Travel, side by side

Navan sells travel booking, cards and expenses on one platform, with its own travel agents. SAP Concur sells Concur Travel, a booking tool whose bookings are fulfilled by a travel management company you choose, and Concur Expense. Below, area by area, is what each says on its own pages, checked on Oct 22, 2026, with a link for every statement.

In short

Which fits which program

Navan may suit you if…

  • You want booking, corporate cards and expenses from one company, with its own travel agents
  • You have up to 300 employees and want to use Navan Business, which Navan lists as free
  • You want 24/7 travel help from the same company that runs the booking tool

SAP Concur may suit you if…

  • You already use Concur Expense and want bookings to flow into it
  • You want to choose your travel management company separately from the booking tool, or keep the one you have
  • You want pre-trip requests, expenses and invoices from the same vendor

Our reading of the sourced statements below, not a verdict. Your own trips, systems and support needs decide it.

Scope

What this comparison covers

What is compared

Navan Business and Navan Enterprise, against SAP Concur's Premium plan, the one that includes Concur Travel, together with Concur Expense and a TMC. What a TMC adds varies from one TMC to the next, so this page describes only what SAP's own pages say about it.

Sources and dates

Everything here comes from Navan's, SAP Concur's and SAP's own pages, checked on Oct 22, 2026. Marketing claims are marked as the vendor's own statement. Vendors change their pages, so confirm anything that matters in writing. Spotted something out of date? Email support@silentvip.com.

How each is bought

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Navan describes itself as a single platform for travel booking, policy, spend visibility and 24/7 in-house travel agent support, in contrast to traditional travel management with offline agencies and separate expense tools. This is Navan's own statement. Source
  • Navan Expense works with Navan Travel, and Navan also issues its own corporate cards. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • SAP Concur sells Concur Travel, a booking tool and travel management platform, and Concur Expense, which can also be bought on its own. Source
  • SAP's onboarding page for small and midsize businesses says a TMC partner is a requirement for activating Concur Travel, and every booking needs a TMC to fulfill it and provide support and services. Source

Worth asking: With Navan, the software and the travel agents come from one company. With Concur Travel, the software comes from SAP Concur and the bookings are fulfilled by a TMC you choose, so you'd normally have two contracts. Ask each side what it answers for.

Booking

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Travelers book flights, hotels, trains, rental cars and black cars, from inventory Navan says it sources from corporate providers, consumer booking sites and direct connections. Source
  • Travelers earn airline miles and hotel points on eligible bookings, and can change or cancel most bookings themselves in the app. Source
  • Delegates can book for executives, employees and guests from one account, and organizers can set up group trips with their own spend controls. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Employees search, compare and book flights, hotels, rail and rental cars themselves, within company policy. Source
  • Booking Agent, an AI assistant in Concur Travel, helps employees search, compare and book within policy. This is SAP Concur's own description. Source
  • SAP Concur says more than 20,000 organizations use Concur Travel, in more than 150 countries. This is SAP Concur's own statement. Source

Worth asking: Both let travelers book for themselves. Ask which airlines' and hotels' content each shows for your routes, and, for Concur Travel, which content comes through the TMC you'd choose.

Policy and approvals

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Admins add the travel policy once; travelers see their personal limits while they search, and dynamic policies can adapt to market conditions. Source
  • In-policy bookings can be approved automatically or routed to a set approver; out-of-policy bookings are flagged for review or rejected, depending on the company's settings. Source
  • Navan Rewards gives travelers rewards toward personal travel for choosing cheaper hotels, which Navan says it funds itself. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Out-of-policy options are flagged during booking, and preferred options and negotiated rates are highlighted. Source
  • Each company chooses how strict to be, from a warning to a required approval or a blocked booking, and exceptions can go to a manager or travel administrator. Source
  • Concur Request, a separate product, handles requests and approvals before money is spent. Source

Worth asking: Both check policy while the traveler books. Ask whether pre-trip approval is part of the plan you'd buy, since SAP Concur sells it as Concur Request, and how each handles a change after approval.

Payments and expenses

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Navan generates a virtual card for each booking, so travelers don't enter payment details or pay out of pocket for the trip. Source
  • Companies can issue Navan corporate cards, which Navan says give up to 1.5% back, or link existing Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards through Navan Connect. Source
  • Out-of-pocket expenses are claimed with a receipt photo and reimbursed through payroll or to the employee's bank account. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Concur Expense covers receipt capture, corporate card transaction matching, approvals and reimbursement. Source
  • With Concur Travel and Concur Expense together, travel bookings are captured and reconciled in the same system as expenses. Source
  • SAP lists payments among the services TMCs offer jointly with SAP Concur. Source

Worth asking: Both connect travel to expenses. Ask how a booking is paid for (a card per booking, a central card or the traveler's own card), and, for Concur Travel, whether the TMC or SAP Concur handles that part.

Integrations

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Navan offers direct integrations, SFTP and APIs. Source
  • Navan Expense is described as integrating directly with NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage and Datev. Source
  • HR systems connect through SCIM, SFTP or direct connections, and single sign-on supports Okta, Azure, SAML 2.0 and OpenID. Source
  • Navan's integrations page also lists a Concur integration that forwards receipts for expense reports. Source
  • Navan says most native integrations are included in the subscription, with no additional fees from Navan. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Concur Travel is described as integrating with TMCs, global distribution systems, ERP platforms, HR systems, finance applications and expense software. Source
  • SAP Concur says it has “hundreds of integrations and partner apps” for connecting Concur Expense to ERP, HR and accounting systems. This is SAP Concur's own statement. Source
  • Concur TripLink captures trips booked outside the booking tool, so the company can still see them. Source

Worth asking: Both publish long lists. Ask each for the specific connector to your accounting and HR systems, whether it's included, and who maintains it.

Support

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Navan says its in-house travel agents are available 24/7 by chat or call. Source
  • A virtual assistant, Ava, handles routine requests such as flight changes, so agents can focus on complex needs. This is Navan's own description. Source
  • Navan says its agents have at least 3 to 5 years of corporate travel experience. This is Navan's own statement. Source
  • Navan Enterprise adds a designated account executive and a dedicated customer success manager. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • SAP's onboarding page says the TMC provides support and services for every Concur Travel booking. It doesn't give hours or response times, so those depend on the TMC you choose. Source
  • The pricing page lists a User Support Desk and “24/7 support from experts” on the Plus and Premium plans. Source
  • Concur Travel sends travelers real-time itinerary updates and keeps a central view of itineraries for duty of care. Source

Worth asking: With Navan, one company answers for the trip and the software. With Concur Travel, help with a trip comes from the TMC and help with the software from SAP Concur. Ask each for hours and response times in writing.

Implementation

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Navan Enterprise lists custom implementation, and Navan's FAQ says Enterprise adds support for implementing and scaling the platform. Source
  • On the pricing page, Navan Business has a “Get started” button, while Navan Enterprise asks you to get a price quote. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • SAP's onboarding page sets out three phases, setup, validation and rollout, with an assigned Travel Activation Coach. Source
  • Choosing a TMC partner comes first, and the TMC must authorize your site before it's validated in a live environment. Source
  • There's no free trial of Concur Travel on its own; there's a self-guided demo and a 30-minute on-demand walkthrough. Source

Worth asking: Neither page gives a timeline. Ask each for a written plan with dates, and, for Concur Travel, which steps the TMC owns.

Pricing

Navan

Each statement links to Navan's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Navan Business, for companies of up to 300 employees, is listed as free; Navan says it's funded by travel providers' commission fees. Source
  • On Navan Business, Navan Expense is free for the first 5 monthly expensing users, then $15 per user per month. Source
  • Above 300 employees, Navan asks you to request a demo; Navan Enterprise shows no price and reads “Let’s talk”. Source

SAP Concur

Each statement links to SAP Concur's or SAP's own page, checked Oct 22, 2026.

  • Concur Expense: the Base plan starts at $7 per report and the Plus plan at $11 per report, both with unlimited users. Source
  • Concur Travel is listed only in the Premium plan, which has “Custom pricing”; price can vary with monthly commitment. Source
  • The pricing page shows no price for Concur Travel and none for a TMC's services. Source

Worth asking: Up to 300 employees, Navan publishes a price and SAP Concur doesn't for Concur Travel. Above 300, both are by quote, so ask each for every fee over 12 months for the same trips: for Concur Travel, that's SAP Concur's quote plus the TMC's fees.
